Alexander Myasnikov: "Coronavirus is not yet a verdict, but the epidemic is just beginning."

So far, no drugs have been invented in the world that could defeat infectious diseases caused by viruses. That's why, according to doctors, the coronavirus must be dealt with differently. How exactly - said a famous doctor Alexander Myasnikov at a press conference in TASS.

Not so long ago Alexander Myasnikov - Candidate of Medical Sciences, a representative of the fourth generation of the famous medical dynasty Myasnikovs, chief physician of the Moscow City Clinical Hospital. Zhatkevich, a TV presenter, - released an addition to his book "Infections: the enemy must know in person. In the new chapters, the doctor talks about the coronavirus. What sensations has doctor Myasnikov discovered?

"From experience, I know that viral diseases are dangerous because they provoke many cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Liver cancer, cervical cancer in women, stomach cancer are in most cases the consequences of past infections. Viruses also affect the cardiovascular system. Chlamydia, for example, cause inflammation in the blood vessels. It is with viruses that I associate the recent increase in cancer and cardiovascular disease. The problem is that mankind has not invented effective mechanisms to combat viruses to date. A cure and a vaccine against coronavirus, like any other virus, is extremely difficult, almost impossible to create because viruses are constantly mutating. By the way, all current influenza vaccines are years of testing. As for antibiotics, they only kill the virus shell, its membrane, nothing more. AIDS began to affect people over 50 years ago, and the means against it have not been found so far. Why not? Again, because the virus is constantly mutating, changing and manifesting itself individually in each case. In general, there are no really effective antiviral drugs today," said Alexander Myasnikov. According to him, it will take years to develop a vaccine against coronavirus, because it requires thorough clinical trials on different groups of people. However, Alexander Myasnikov did not share the panic about the coronavirus epidemic. According to him, this disease has existed in the world for a long time and many people may have already gotten sick with it without knowing it.

"Coronavirus is just an ORD. Coronavirus has affected many people. But the new virus mutated and took on a new form, becoming dangerous due to complications. But in general, it's the same flu", - said Dr. Myasnikov.

Alexander Myasnikov considers complications in the form of pneumonia to be a danger of the current type of coronavirus. "Normal pneumonia is treated quite effectively with antibiotics. We have nothing against viral pneumonia yet. Yes, there are attempts to cure this disease with Oseltamevir, but it is not a guarantee of recovery. If a person starts to choke, we give him oxygen, try to ease his symptoms. There's one important thing we need to know: Every viral disease has a so-called "self-limit". So the virus dies on its own. In each case, everything depends on a person's immunity. It's different for everyone. Of course, the elderly people, who often visit clinics where you can get infected, do not lead an active lifestyle, overweight, have bad habits, the risk of getting sick is higher. Children have a stronger immunity. Perhaps it plays a role that adults make them follow the rules of hygiene," said Alexander Myasnikov.

At the press conference, however, the case of a 100-year-old patient with hypertension and Alzheimer's disease who was safely cured of coronavirus in China was mentioned. So the coronavirus in an elderly person is not a sentence.

Many questions have been asked about the symptoms a person might suspect of having a coronavirus. Early signs of the disease included dry throat, oropharynx, pharyngitis, vocal silence, dry cough without sputum. Approximately on the 6th day after the beginning of the disease, the virus penetrates into blood and affects organs and vessels. Fever rises, chills, joint pain appears. A person finds it difficult to breathe.

When asked whether the epidemic had passed its peak, Alexander Myasnikov responded skeptically: "We are now somewhere in the beginning. There will still be diseases, an increase in the number of illnesses is not ruled out. But it is comforting that coronavirus, as well as any ODS - a seasonal disease. With the beginning of summer, it is likely to go into decline. In addition, in Russia, this virus has its own specifics. In most cases it came to us from Europe, not from China, that is, it has already mutated and therefore manifests itself not as acutely as we see it in China. In addition, there is an opinion that with each subsequent infection the virus is weakening. In Russia, we have not had a single case of artificial lung ventilation in the coronavirus. That is, no serious, severe cases have been registered in Russia. So there's no need to panic.
