Coronavirus: quarantine extended to all of Italy and to everyone arriving in Israel

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte ordered the expansion of quarantine measures, including the restriction of public gatherings and sporting events, as well as the closure of schools throughout the country. Previously, quarantine was valid only in the northern regions.

Meanwhile, prisoners in 27 Italian prisons rebelled due to the introduction of new restrictions designed to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Riots began in the north of the country in Modena. There, three prisoners died in Santa Anna Prison and three more died after they were transferred from this prison. At least two of them reportedly died from an overdose of methadone, a substitute for the heroin they had stolen in the prison infirmary.

In San Vittore Prison in Milan, prisoners set fire to one of the buildings and then climbed out onto the roof after authorities forbade relatives to visit the prison because of fear of infection.

About 20 people were able to escape during the riots from a prison in the city of Foggia in the south of the country, although most of them were quickly caught. Riots were also noted in the prisons of Naples and Rome.

On board the ship were 3,5 thousand people from 54 countries, including four Russians. The disease was detected in 19 team members and two passengers.

After the Grand Princesses landed in Auckland, passengers began to go ashore; evacuation from the liner is expected to end on Tuesday. At the same time, people who need medical care will be taken to the hospital, and US citizens without symptoms of illness will be sent to 14-day quarantine at US military bases in California, Texas and Georgia.

Several hundred foreign passengers, including 140 British, will be able to return to their homeland.

It is reported that US President Donald Trump was in contact with two representatives of the Republican Party on the eve of how they announced self-isolation. Georgia congressman Doug Collins shook hands with Trump on Friday, and Florida congressman Matt Getz flew with him on the same plane on Monday. Later, both politicians declared self-isolation, as they had contacts with a person who was diagnosed with coronavirus.

However, according to the White House, Trump will not be tested for coronavirus because he "had no prolonged contact with any known patient who had Covid-19." Trump’s health "remains excellent," according to the administration of the American president.
